Byline: Krysta Eaves Reporter

TWO more people have been arrested in connection with a pub brawl after which a new dad died. Eight people have now been arrested as the investigation into the death of Benji Bolsenbroek continues.

The 23-year-old was out celebrating the birth of his son when he became involved in the large-scale disturbance inside The Park Hotel on Linthorpe Road, Middlesbrough, in the early hours of Sunday.

He went to his mum's nearby Linthorpe home with family and friends but was taken to hospital when he complained of feeling unwell.

He died within minutes of arriving at Middlesbrough's James Cook University Hospital.

A Cleveland Police spokeswoman said: "A further two people, one woman and one man, have been arre1sted on suspicion of violent disorder and assault in connection with the large-scale disturbance in The Park Hotel pub, following which Benji Bolsenbroek died.

"The 20-year-old woman and 20-year-old man have been bailed pending further inquiries."

Three men and three women had already been bailed in connection with the investigation.

During the disturbance Mr Bolsenbroek, who lived in Thornaby with girlfriend Georgina McGuire and their newborn son, Kianey, suffered facial injuries and other injuries to his body.

It is not yet known whether a glass, bottle or other weapon was used in the incident.

A postmortem examination was "inconclusive" and further tests were to be carried out.

Police are treating the young dad's death as "unexplained".

At a press conference on Monday, Detective Superintendent Rob Donaghy said Mr Bolsenbroek was said to be "in good spirits" when he arrived at the hotel.

But "somehow he became involved in a large-scale disturbance during which he was assaulted", he said.

Mr Bolsenbroek was an ex-pupil at St David's RC Technology College, Acklam. The headteacher at his former school paid tribute to the "valued and popular" former student.

Neighbours also paid tribute to the "lovely lad".

One neighbour told the Gazette: "He was never ever cheeky to us, he was a good neighbour.

They are a lovely family.

He never caused any trouble to us. His girlfriend had just had a baby.

They went out to wet the baby's head on Saturday night."
