PENSIONERS and parents with children will get some early Christmas relief, with millions of benefit payments set to be paid early.

Payments that were due to be paid after Christmas Day will now be paid earlier - which could provide a festive boost for many Merseyside families.

Some payments will be made as many as five days earlier, and it has also been reported that other payments that were due just after the New Year will also be brought forward, meaning 2017 could end a little more comfortably for some struggling families.

The full changes are as follows: | Tax Credits: Due date - December 25 (now paid on December 22); Due date - December 26 (now paid on December 22); Due date - December 27 (now paid on December 22); Due date - December 28 (now paid on December 27); Due date - January 1 (now paid on December 29); Due date - January 2 (now paid on December 29); Due date - January 3 (now paid on January 2).

| Pension Benefit: Due date - December 25 (now paid on December 22); Due date - December 26 (now paid on December 22); Due date - December 27 (now paid on December 22); Due date - January 1 (now paid on December 29); Due date - January 2 (now paid on December 29 in Scotland only).

| Child Benefits: Due date - December 25 (now paid on December 21); Due date - December 26 (now paid on December 22); Due date - January 1 (now paid on December 29).
