Ben in a fightback for third; KARTING.

BEN HINGELEY remains hot on the trail of the ABKC British Karting championship after an eventful race last time out.

During Friday testing at the second round of the Super 1 British Championships at Shennington in Oxfordshire, an accident caused his kart substantial damage.

Ben escaped with minor injuries to his foot and neck, going on to finish a fine second in both heat one and heat two the following day.

That lined the 13-year-old up in third position for the first of Sunday's final, but while challenging for the lead on the last lap he was shunted off and after a stewards' inquiry he ended up with an 11th-placed finish.

That put him 11th on the grid for the grand final and a determined Ben fought his way through the field to finish a more than respectable third.

Ben, armed with new sponsorship deals with and Demon Tweeks, now lies in fourth place in the British championship, only 12 points behind the leader.

Previously Ben had taken wins at both Three Sisters and Glan-Y-Gors with a track record to boot at GYG.
