Ben dies in row at 99p drinks club.
A MURDER probe was underway last night after a lad of 19 was killed at a bargain booze nightclub where drinks cost just 99p.
Ben Lund, who pals called "a true gent", was attacked in the early hours yesterday during a row at the troubleplagued Funktion Rooms in Eastbourne, East Sussex.
Youngsters flock to swig drinks at rock-bottom prices. Cops branded it the resort's roughest nightspot after 48 violent crimes in a year.
The club's website boasts of "95p admission and the much-loved 99p on selected drinks all night long."
A source at the venue added: "People really go for it on a Friday night. The drinks are very cheap and everyone is knocking back the vodka and alcopops. It usually gets pretty messy."
Ben, originally from London, was a die-hard Arsenal fan. Police said they did not think he was stabbed. A 25-year-old man from Eastbourne was arrested.
Flowers were left outside the club yesterday by griefstricken friends of Ben and his internet Facebook page was full of moving tributes.
Emily Field wrote: "Such horrible news. A genuinely lovely guy xx."
Pressure group Alcohol Concern warned that venues regularly slash prices to attract customers and called for controls on cheap drink.
