Ben Affleck Shaves Beard, Says 'R.I.P. But I'll Be Back' On Twitter After Oscar Win For 'Argo'.

Ben Affleck celebrated his film "Argo" winning best picture at the Oscars on Sunday by shaving his beard.

At an after-party, Affleck headed to Craig's restaurant in West Hollywood and shaved the bead in the hallway outside the bathroom, ( TMZ reports.

It is unclear why he did not wait to go into the bathroom, but a source told ( E! News that the beard was essentially the star's good luck charm. After the monumental Oscar win, the charm was no longer needed.

"He did it to mark the end of a chapter. It had that ceremonial quality to it."

Ben Affleck's beard had become such a big deal that a twitter account was even dedicated to the actor's facial hair last week. Within a couple of days the account had nearly 1,000 followers.

A couple of the funnier tweets from the account, which is appropriately titled, @Afflecks_beard, are "Each day I pray he doesn't take a razor to me," and, "Can't sleep. Fearing he might shave me off in the morning. #argo #oscars."

After it was reported that Affleck shaved the beard off, the final tweets were, "R.I.P. @BenAffleck's beard. @tmz confirmed a razor was taken to the beard and the beard is no more. But...I'll be back."

Affleck winning best picture for "Argo" was particularly special, after he had not been nominated in the directing category.

One of the biggest surprises of Oscar night was when First Lady Michelle Obama announced the Best Picture winner from the White House.

"I was sort of hallucinating when that was happening," Affleck told reporters at the 85th Annual Academy Awards. "...It just seem[ed] so natural because the whole thing is so unnatural.

The whole thing kind of overwhelmed me at the time. It was very cool," Affleck went on to say.

When accepting the Oscar, Affeck made sure to thank his wife, actress Jennifer Garner.

"I want to thank my wife, who I don't normally associate with Irana[bar]but I wanna thank you for working on our marriage for ten Christmases. It's good. It is work, but it's the best kind of work. And there's no one I'd rather work with," Affleck said.
