Bell tolls for M50 dodgers.

By SAMUEL HAMILTON CARS from as far away as India have been caught using the barrier-free M50 toll without paying.

It only costs EUR3 to cross, but cameras positioned on the toll bridge in Dublin have also snapped vehicles from El Salvador and Cuba.

They are joined by the most popular flouters of the toll - motorists from the UK, Poland, France and Lithuania.

And now the National Roads Authority is starting to fight back - by targeting the 10,000 Northern Irish drivers who owe money for road tolls or broke traffic laws in the Republic.

This follows a new crossborder agreement allowing authorities both north and south of the border to share information on motorists for the first time since a pilot project last year.
