Belgium bank signs lease at Avenue of A. Plaza.

Belgium's third largest bank, Kredietbank, will move its United States headquarters from 555 Madison Avenue to Avenue of the Americas Plaza at 125 West 55th Street, a new 550,000-quare-foot office building developed by The Macklowe Organization. Kredietbank has leased 32,000 square feet and joins the National Bank of Canada who occupies the top portion of the building.

"We are very pleased that Kredietbank has selected Avenue of the Americas Plaza as the new home for its U.S. corporate headquarters," commented Kent M. Swig, executive vice president of Harry Macklowe Real Estate Co., Inc., the real estate arm of The Macklowe Organization. "They provide a welcome addition to our growing list of first class tenants."

Kredietbank, a Belgian financial institution with $39 billion in assets and a net worth in excess of $1.3 billion, plans a staff of 80 to occupy the newly relocated offices. "We selected Avenue of the Americas Plaza for its superior quality of design and construction as well as the strategic location along the Avenue of the Americas corporate corridor," commented Luc Philips, general manager of Kredietbank.

The tenant was represented by James Meiski and Myers Mermel, both formerly of William A. White/Grubb & Ellis while Kent M. Swig and David Burris of Harry Macklowe Real Estate Co., Inc. represented the landlord.

Designed by Edward Larrabee Barnes/John M. Lee Associates, Avenue of the Americas Plaza is styled to accomodate service-related financial and legal firms.
