Belgium : Brussels and Riyadh teams won a significant trade case initiated by the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf.

Our Brussels and Riyadh teams successfully represented the China Iron and Steel Association (CISA) and its major members, including the Baowu Steel Group, Tianjin Pipe and Hengyang Valin Steel Tubes, in the GCC anti-dumping investigation concerning imports of seamless pipes and tubes (SPT) for oil or gas pipelines and drilling.

This is a very high-profile case, which has attracted the attention of many local media sources, not only because it is to date the biggest trade case initiated in the GCC, but also because the result of this case might have a huge impact on the downstream oil and gas industry, which is one of the most important local industries.

China is the largest exporting country of the concerned product to the Gulf region. Our Brussels trade team, assisted by the Riyadh office, successfully convinced the GCC investigating authority to terminate the above-mentioned proceeding. Without this successful judgment ruling, the client's exports to the Gulf Region of approx. US$450 million per year would have faced significant damages. Brussels Partner Xiaoyi Tang and Rudi Leleu, Director of International Trade, together with Riyadh Associate Abdulrahman Aflah, led the project.
