Belfast No1 for unlucky bets in UK; PUNTERS.

A FRIDAY-the-13th poll branding Belfast as the unluckiest place in the UK was rubbished yesterday.

An analysis based on the likelihood of placing a successful bet put Belfast at the bottom of the heap.

It is a city where punters could expect to make an average loss of 60p on every pound they bet, the Virgin games survey found.

But bookmaker Paddy Power said it was "baloney".

He added: "It is by far the most difficult place for us to make a profit. We make less per punter in the city than anywhere else."

Behavioural psychologist Donna Dawson said luck is partly mindset.

She added: "A negative outlook versus a positive one can have a really big effect on luck."
