Being mad about Mad Men.

Byline: LORNE JACKSON

MAD Men scooped best drama at the Emmy Awards, and I'm not surprised. I've spent the last few weeks bathing in the first three boxsets of the series. (That's right, I have no life.) It's a slow moving show, but it has a lot in its favour. Lavish production values. Lantern-jawed heroes. Lush ladies.

But the real reason for its success? I have a theory.

Mad Man is set in the early 60s, and everyone smokes... everywhere.

They puff in bars, at home, next to babies.

Most hardcore fans must be puffers remembering the halcyon days before they were banished from the face of the earth.
