Pasay City police arrested the man who had recently gone viral on social media when caught from a dashcam video blocking passing vehicles along EDSA and asking for alms from motorists.
Pasay City police chief Police Colonel Bernard Yang identified the arrested suspect as Richard dela Cruz, 24.
Base on the report received by Yang, dela Cruz was arrested by the police authorities after they receive a phone call from concerned citizen that a man was creating trouble by throwing stones near Plaza 66, Manlunas Street, Barangay 183, Villamor, Pasay City.
Members of the Villamor Police Community Precinct (PCP) immediately responded at the scene where they saw the suspect who did not resist arrest when apprehended.
Recovered from the possession of the suspect were a piece of rock, bladed weapon and a cardboard sign ehich says that he is not a bad person.
The suspect readily admitted his guilt and said he just did the crime because of his use of solvent. He said he just wanted to ask for money from motorists.
Dela Cruz, at the same time, asked for forgiveness from the motorists he had earlier victimized and promised not to do the same in the future.
It can be recalled that dela Cruz' dashcam video went viral last week when he blocked the path of a car driven by a woman along EDSA in Mandaluyong City while holding a piece of rock and threatening the motorist as he ask for alms.
To avoid further trouble, the woman agreed to give the suspect a token amount of coins but dela Cruz demanded for P100.
When the woman driver declined, the suspect hit the car's front windshield twice and scratched the driver's door with the use of the rock he was holding.
Dela Cruz is now facing charges of alarm and scandal and illegal possession of bladed weapon at the Pasay City prosecutor's office.
