Beer Drinkers of America expand to 6 additional states.

Beer Drinkers of America, a non-profit consumer organization that fights excessive taxes and unfair laws targeting beer consumers in the United States, announced plans for the group's expansion to six new states in 1992.

With more than 600,000 members nationwide, the organization reported it plans to increase its membership significantly by expanding activities into Connecticut, Delaware, Kentucky, Mississippi, New Hampshire and Oregon. The expansion brings to 36 the number of states in which BDA is active, a group spokesperson reported.

"Our goals are to increase awareness in the new states about unfair taxes, marketing restrictions on beer, and the importance of responsible and moderate drinking," explained BDA president Bill Schreiber.

According to Schreiber, former major league baseball pitcher Don Sutton will help BDA achieve its goals as the organization's new honorary chairman.

As a part of its six-state expansion, BDA will promote responsible drinking through its Party Smart Education Project, which is chaired by Dallas Cowboy quarterback Steve Beuerlein.
