Beer; Young's Ramrod 500ml Safeway and Asda.

Byline: Owen Pearce

HOORAY for the quality brewers. Young's, an independent and fiercely proud brewery which, despite having a huge range of beers, delivers top-notch ranges again and again.

Ramrod, named after the woolly friends which live at the brewery's stables (in Wandsworth, London) is a classic, hoppy strong ale. A rich fruity, strong in alcohol (5 per cent), taste with a flowery, dryish hoppiness. A pint not to be rushed. What's more, a percentage of the price goes to those good people at the National Trust.
