Beeb plot swoop for PS3m Hill.

BBC chiefs are planning a PS3million bid to poach top comic Harry Hill from STV.

The wacky TV Burp star the wacky TV Burp star tops a wish list of big names the Beeb hope will help boost ratings.

Sources said the BBC will match STV's PS3million golden handcuffs offer that Harry rejected last year because he was sick of TV Burp.

After a year's break from television he is making his acting debut as eccentric inventor Professor Branestawm in a BBC1 Christmas Eve drama.

Bosses at the Beeb are keen to sign him for more projects, including his own show.

BBC1 controller Charlotte Moore described him as "one of the great comic talents of British television".

She said: "I would love to do more shows with Harry if he becomes available."
