Becks and Posh show.

England captain David Beckham sported a new look last night as he stepped out with wife Victoria.

Beckham opted for a close-cropped look as they arrived at a pounds 1m private party at London's Royal Albert Hall just hours after Rebecca Loos made a second TV appearance to talk about her alleged affair with the star.

The couple spent several minutes talking to fans and signing autographs outside the venue.

Management company 19 Entertainment threw the party to celebrate its 19th birthday.

Ms Loos, asked on the C4 show Richard & Judy if she felt guilty, she said: "I did play a part in it."

Presenter Richard Madeley spluttered: "Fifty per cent of it, love."

Resort tragedy

TWO Britons died and two others who were injured were rescued by passers by who dived into a river to save them after their car left the road near the resort of Fethiye, Turkey, on Sunday.

It is understood that all four were originally from Britain but living in Turkey. Next of kin were still being informed last night.

Church row

GAY clergyman Canon Jeffrey John appeared to have reopened Anglican divisions on the issues of gay priests and same-sex marriages yesterday when he was named as the new Dean of St Albans.

Downing Street announced that Dr John had been approved by the Queen as the new Dean - one of the most senior jobs in the Church of England - but the appointment caused consternation from more conservative members of the Church. Although a celibate homosexual, Dr John was forced to withdraw his candidature as Bishop of Reading last year after an outcry from traditionalists, who said allowing gay priests would further the break-up of the Anglican Church.

Bags of cash

A SCOTS branch of Swedish furniture giants IKEA has become the first in the UK to charge customers for its carrier bags.

Shoppers at the firm's Edinburgh store now pay 5p for every disposable plastic carrier bag. IKEA bosses hope the move will encourage customers to use the greener re-usable bags.
