Beauty Prince can trump Age; Graham Cunningham C HONG KONG VIEW.
THE market for today's feature points to age before beauty, but Beauty Prince is a tempting alternative as The Golden Age bids to punch his ticket for the BWW Hong Kong Derby in the Siu Sai Wan Handicap at 1.15.
The Golden Age deserves to be favourite - as he's thrived under front-running tactics since arriving from France - and he rides the track's inside rail for the fourth time in a row.
However, The Golden Age is slightly worse off with a trio who finished only just behind him on his latest start (Dinozzo, Marvel Hero and Citron Spirit) and 9lb worse off with Beauty Prince having beaten him by just a length and a quarter here in October.
The Golden Age has improved since that first win, but Beauty Prince hardly stood still when worn down late by Singapore Sling and Classic Emperor on his last two runs.
Beauty Prince is just as comfortable making the running as The Golden Age, so rider Tommy Berry will need to avoid getting into a speed duel that opens the door for hold-up horses.
The most likely scenario sees Berry deferring to Matt Chadwick on the favourite early on, but the record reflects that Beauty Prince doesn't have to lead to produce a peak effort and he's a solid each-way option if he goes off at 6-1 or better.
Berry also holds claims aboard Super Form in the 1.45, but a different Super is the second advice of the day.
Step forward Super Fluke, who has thrived for the switch to Dennis Yip this term, winning three of his four starts and improving his rating from 65 to 87.
Super Fluke faces several dangerous rivals in the 2.15, with Fantastic Eight appealing as saver material at a big price, but he showed he's still in fine fettle with a strong-finishing third last time and stall two should reduce the risk of having to come wide to challenge.
