Beauty: Product debunk; What's all the fuss about... ski-sun sticks?

Byline: Tricia Welch and Anna Gizowska

Sloping off soon? On the mountains we're hit with up to 85% more UVB exposure, compared to sea level, so a minimum SPF25 sun protection is a must. But which ones are neatest (and don't interfere with your aerodynamics?). We slick on four to find out what's worth the space in your case

Vichy Capital Soleil Total Sunblock Stick, SPF25, pounds 5. The clever sliding case means you can slick this on without taking your gloves off. Contains Vichy thermal spa water plus high-factor filters. Glides on silkily, giving a pouty gleam to lips and a glow to nose and cheeks. llll

M's choice Clarins Sun Control Stick, SPF30, pounds 11. Very slick - the swivel-up case and neck cord makes for handy application on the go. It also contains moisturising shea butter plus anti-ageing olive extract. Gives a lovely sheen to all delicate areas. lllll

Piz Buin Block Stick, SPF20, pounds 5.89. Slightly tinted, creamy stick with moisturising Vitamin E which looks neutral on the mouth and slightly sun-kissed on the face. Rounded shape makes it better for dabbing on the face and ears than lips. A higher factor would be better. lll

Boots Soltan Sunstick, SPF 25, pounds 3.29. Conventional twist-up stick. Gives fairly matte almost invisible high protection with Vitamin E and aloe vera to moisturise plus an anti-ageing complex. Very good value. llll
