Some common drugs in your medicine cabinet can also ease Fido's minor aliments: Problem: Temporary pain and soreness Treatment: Aspirin Approximate dose: 81 mg (1 baby aspirin) for 10-to-30 [b dogs and 325 mg (1 regular aspirin) for 50-to-100 [b ones, one or two times daily with food. Aspirin is generally safe for dogs, but not all pain-relievers are. Do not give your pet Tytenol (acetaminophen). Problem: Allergies Treatment: Benadryl (diphenhydramine) Approximate dose: 1 mg per pound of animal weight, two to three times dairy. Problem: Tummy troubles Treatment: Pepto-Bismol (bismuth subsalicylate) Approximate dose: 1 teaspoon per 20 pounds of animal weight every 4-6 hours, up to 24 hours.
