Battling sides out of trophy quarter finals.

STOCKTON Church United and Jubilee Church Teesside have both failed to make the quarter finals of the North East Christian Football League's Andy Walker Trophy.

Stockton finished fourth out of five in Group D with a 5-3 defeat to runners-up, Emmanuel Church Durham, while Teesside will compete in the Memorial Cup after going down 5-1 to Group D runners-up, Morpeth Mighty Oaks.

Stockton were already out of contention to make it out of their group, but they put up a good fight with goals from Matt Steele and Mark Norster giving them a 2-1 lead in the first half.

However, despite another goal from Norster, United eventually went down 5-3. Jubilee went into their final fixture in second place, ahead of their last opponents, but they were brushed aside to miss out by a single point, with Danny Oram netting their consolation.

A difficult weekend for Teesside teams continued in the League's Division One when both New Life Church Middlesbrough and Praise Christian Centre Teesside suffered heavy defeats.

New Life remain rooted to the bottom of the table without a point from their opening three games after being hammered 8-0 by mid-table Hillsong Newcastle, while Praise suffered their first defeat going down 4-0 to top side Sunderland Samba.
