French bistro Mon Ami Gabi toasts France's national holiday, Bastille Day, with special menu items now through Wednesday, July 18. On the menu, diners will find classic Vichyssoise (chilled potato and leek soup with chives) for $8.95, ahi tuna Nioise with tapenade vinaigrette for $23.95, seafood bouillabaisse with garlic rouille for $36.95 and tricolor profiteroles filled with blueberry sorbet and vanilla and strawberry ice cream for $9.95.

Beer, beer, beer

The refreshed Beerhead Bar & Eatery, formerly known as The Beer Market, has been refreshed and is ready for business. Beerhead serves nearly 500 brands of beer and other beverages. Plus, there's a new lunch and dinner menu featuring items like the MYO avocado toast, specialty pizzas, the signature Barbarian Pretzel and desserts. Brunch, with a menu that includes chicken and waffles, breakfast pizza and drink specials, will be served on Saturdays and Sundays.

Summer music series

Head out to e+o food and drink's patio (weather permitting) from 6 to 10 p.m. Fridays for the restaurant's summer music series. This week features Samantha Masokas. Jack Byron plays Friday, July 20, and Mighty Fine Shindig plays Friday, July 27. Stop in for happy hour from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. to take advantage of $3 drafts and $2 sparkling in the bar and lounge only.

On a Mission

Mission BBQ, a fast casual restaurant chain that pays tribute to military, police and fire personnel, is opening its second Illinois location in Gurnee Monday, July 16. Mission BBQ serves ribs, brisket, pulled pork, sausage, pulled chicken, Maggie's mac-n-cheese, baked beans with brisket, seasonal sides, sweets and more. The restaurant is hosting a pre-opening Military Appreciation Night from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, July 13, that is open to the public and will benefit the USO.

Wildfire beer dinner

Get a taste of Wildfire's own Wildfire Craft Beer Co. brews during its July beer dinner at 6:30 p.m. Monday, July 16, in Oak Brook. Taste a custom four-course menu while listening to guest speaker Phil Stubstad, Wildfire's Craft Brewer, discuss the pairings. The reception features passed appetizers such as summer market vegetable empanadas and ginger-glazed calamari paired with Higgins Hefeweizen at 6:30 p.m., followed by the seated dinner at 7. First course pairs chicken scallopine with Belgian Tripel and the main course pairs garlic-herb marinated beef tenderloin skewer and shrimp risotto with Sheridan Irish Red Ale. The meal concludes with butterscotch crme brle paired with Stubstout. It's $60 per person, plus tax and gratuity. Reservations required.

IHOP's short stack deal

60-cent short stack. Yes, you read that correctly. It's IHOP's 60th birthday, so they're celebrating with a short stack deal to match from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 17. IHOP has also added some new limited-time pancake flavors to its menu, including Belgian dark chocolate mousse, Mexican tres leches and vanilla spice.
