Bassem Youssef signs with leading Hollywood talent and production agents.
Bassem Youssef has just signed with leading Hollywood agents United Talent Agency ( UTA ) and multimedia development, production and talent management company Anonymous Content , reported Deadline.
The Egyptian satirical comedian, AKA the "Jon Stewart of the Arab World," is now "looking to branch out into both scripted content as well as English language fare," according to Deadline.
Both talent companies have been expanding their presence in the Arab world recently, with UTA signing up two of the region's rising filmmakers, Emirati Majid Al-Ansari (Zinzana ) and Jordanian Naji Abu Nowar , whose magnificent Bedouin film Theeb has been nominated for best Foreign Language film at the 2016 Academy Awards.
Meanwhile, Anonymous has inked a deal to consult with MBC Group, the Arab world's leading media company and TV network. Anonymous will advise MBC subsidiary 03 Productions on developing and producing both Arabic and English-language content. Although Bassem's hugely popular TV show "El Bernameg" was cancelled then banned in Egypt in 2014, he went on to appear twice on his buddy Jon's The Daily Show as a senior Middle East correspondent, and even hosted the 2015 International Emmy Awards Gala in New York City.
