Barzani Assures Ankara.

KDP leader Massoud Barzani says after meeting Turkish diplomats: "We underlined the unity and integrity of Iraq and that the Kurdish issue should be resolved within a united Iraq". Ankara fears US efforts to unite the KDP and its archrival Jalal Talabani's PUK against Saddam Hussein will lead to an independent Kurdish state in Northern Iraq and consequently will spur the Turkish separatist Kurds (PKK) to get their independence. The Undersecretary of the Turkish Foreign Ministry, Faruk Logoglu, says both sides were "unanimous" on continuing the struggle against the PKK.
