Barrier-free trade deal vital for Britain; Letters & Emails.
Barrier-free trade deal vital for Britain IT is ironic to observe todays Conservatives such as Julian Knight MP willing to contemplate the imposition of massive job-destroying taxes on British business including Jaguar Land Rover.
That would be the nightmare scenario if Britain fails to secure a barrier-free trade deal with the EU.
This was the blunt message given by the head of Ford of Europe in a recent interview. He estimated his company would have to pay annually one billion pounds in tariffs (taxes) on Ford vehicle products exported to the EU unless a tariff-free trade deal is agreed.
Like wise Jaguar Land Rover that supports 300,000 jobs in the UK would face an even bigger tax bill.
So, let's hope common sense prevails and barrier-free trade with the EU is maintained by the UK retaining our membership of the Single Market and Customs Union. Such an outcome is vital for the future prosperity of Solihull and the West Midlands.
