Barrie attends top US tennis conference.

BAHRAIN Tennis Academy director and head professional Dan Barrie has returned from the US after attending the 2013 World Conference on Tennis, hosted by the United States Professional Tennis Association (USPTA).

This annual event is the tennis industry's premier educational experience for tennis professionals.

More than 1,000 influential tennis teachers and industry leaders gathered from September 23 to 27 at the Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress Hotel in Orlando, Florida, to attend five intensive days of educational seminars and tennis industry meetings, networking and product testing.

Among the featured speakers were coach of 10 former World No 1 players Nick Bollettieri, former coach of Andy Roddick and the Williams sisters Rick Macci, and former touring professional and general manager of USTA Player Development Patrick McEnroe.

This year each day of the conference focused on one of five core competencies: Cardio Tennis, 10 and Under Tennis, club operations, teaching/sport science, and high performance.

Coach Barrie opted for extended training in Cardio Tennis with Worldwide Cardio Tennis Programme Manager Michele Krause. This qualified him as a Licensed Cardio Tennis Professional.

"We introduced Cardio Tennis in Bahrain last year and the programme has been gaining momentum," said Barrie.

"We are running a free trial this Wednesday (October 2), 7pm at the Dilmun Club in Sr.

"We welcome all adults who would like to try it out. No previous experience is necessary."
