Barracuda Networks Inc, a provider of application security appliances, announced on Tuesday (5 February) the European introduction of the Barracuda Message Archiver, an integrated hardware and software appliance that allows organizations to improve their e-mail storage efficiency and meet legal and regulatory compliance obligations.

According to the company, the Barracuda Message Archiver is a complete e-mail archiving solution, designed to index and preserve all e-mails, meet legal and regulatory compliance needs, and make more efficient use of storage technology. E-mail content is indexed and backed up to enable administrators, auditors and end users to retrieve any message stored in an organization's e-mail archive.

Energize Updates, delivered by Barracuda Central, reportedly provides automatic updates to its library of virus and policy definitions for enhanced monitoring of compliance and corporate guidelines, document file format updates needed to decode content within e-mail attachments, as well as security updates for the underlying platform to remain free of security vulnerabilities.

The appliance is available in three models: Barracuda Message Archiver 350, 450 and 650. Pricing is based upon model and starts at GBP3349 in the UK with no per user licensing fees.
