Barr Receives Approval for Demeclocycline Hydrochloride Tablets USP, 150 mg & 300 mg.

Barr Pharmaceuticals, Inc. today announced that its subsidiary, Barr Laboratories, Inc., has received approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for its application to manufacture and market Demeclocycline Hydrochloride Tablets USP, 150 mg & 300 mg, the generic equivalent of ESP Pharma's Declomycin(R) Tablets, 150 mg & 300 mg. The Company plans to launch its product immediately.

Demeclocycline Hydrochloride Tablets is an antibiotic used to treat various types of infections.

Barr's Demeclocycline Hydrochloride Tablets will compete in a market that had total combined annual sales of approximately $40.2 million, based on IMS sales data for the twelve months ended October 2004.
