Barnes-Homer seals Lambs' vital victory.
With both sides in the bottom four, the Lambs and the Shots went in search of an early strike to settle the nerves.
Aldershot enjoyed more of the opening play but the game quickly descended into a frustrating stalemate played largely in the air over the half way line.
Home keeper Cameron Belford kept out Brett Williams' left-footed shot on the half hour with a good stop at his near post and a minute before the break Matthew Godden struck from distance just past the post with Shots keeper Alan Martin seemingly beaten.
After the restart, Aldershot nearly forced an opening when Jordan Roberts' half-volley forced Belford into a near-post save on 50 minutes while Martin denied Barnes-Homer with his feet on seven minutes later to keep the game goalless.
But on 69 minutes Belford launched a long kick downfield and it bounced once before onloan striker Barnes-Homer nipped in to prod home from 12 yards.
