Barnes & Nobles grows at Rock Ctr.

Barnes & Noble Bookstores, Inc. has signed a lease to renew its existing space and expand its quarters at 600 Fifth Avenue in Rockefeller Center. Under a 10-year lease, the company will occupy a total of over 33,000 square feet of space, almost 3,000 of which is expansion space.

Barnes & Noble, best known for the sale of books, plans to create a new super store at Rockefeller Center. In addition to a huge selection of books, this renovated store will sell educational materials, stationery, calculators, gift items, games, cassettes, tapes, art work and posters. The new super store is due to be complete by the second quarter of 1992.

"We are thrilled to be able to extend our lease and continue as part of the tradition of Rockefeller Center," says Jeff Berk, vice president of Real Estate for Barnes & Noble. "After the renovation is complete, this location will become the flagship of all our super stores."

The lease transaction was negotiated on behalf of the landlord, Rockefeller Center Management Corporation, by Jane Fincke Ellis, senior director Retail and Edward J. Reilly, assistant vice president.
