Barnardo's call for more carers.

CHILDREN'S charity Barnardo's is facing a desperate shortage of carers in Wales.

The charity - the oldest in the UK - is launching a New Year recruitment drive in an effort to counter this.

Barnardo's Cymru fostering and adoption manager, Anne Marie Browning, said: "In Wales we urgently need to recruit 50 adoptive parents or long-term foster carers.

"As well as that we are always looking for carers who can give short break care to disabled children who live at home."

More than 200 children a year in Wales require adoptive homes.
