Barker leads Emirates Team New Zealand to fifth win.

Dubai It was honours all the way for the fifth successive day for home skipper Dean Barker as Emirates Team New Zealand remained unbeaten in the Louis Vuitton Trophy at the Viaduct Basin in Auckland, yesterday.

After sailing was cancelled due to low winds on Friday, Barker led his boat to a fifth straight win, this time accounting for second-placed Azzurra to stay at the top of the leaderboard with five points.

Pack of four

With another two days of round-robin sailing left, the home team is being followed by a pack of four boats with three points each, including All4One, Azzurra, Mascalzone Latino Audi Team and Teamorigin.

Conditions were ideal for racing with almost flat water and a southerly breeze that ranged from 12 to 20 knots with some big shifts and puffs. Peter Reggio's race committee from the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron got off four races with time to spare even after pauses for boat repairs and commercial shipping.

All4One kept themselves in contention when they defeated Aleph by 1.06 minutes, while British challenger Teamorigin u skippered by Olympic champion Ben Ainsley u kept Synergy winless for a fifth day with a 1.18 minute win over the Russian Sailing team led by Polish skipper Karol Jablonski.

In the fourth and final match of the day, Mascalzone Latino Audi kept a 1.03-minute gap from Paul Cayard's Artemis to pocket their third win.
