SHARON, Mass. -- Barewalls.com, an online print and poster retailer, has been selected as a Top 50 Retailing Site in Internet Retailer's annual Best of the Web ratings. This recognition places Barewalls.com alongside such notable sites as Amazon.com, Dell, eBay and Office Depot.
According to company officials, Barewalls.com is the only poster and print e-tailer honored as an Internet Retailer Top 50 Retailing Site. Internet Retailer magazine said it was impressed by Barewalls.com's unique search engine and cataloging system. Barewalls.com's search engine has been designed to mimic a shopper's natural thought process, enabling browsers to intuitively search more than 100,000 images to find the right poster or print. Barewalls.com also features a targeted merchandising strategy, which narrows selection by providing multiple points of entry into the site's online gallery.
"Since 1997, Barewalls.com has thrived on its innovative approach to selling posters and prints online--growing from an Internet pioneer to one of the Web's leading e-tailers," said Lorne Lieberman, Barewalls.com's c.e.o. "We are thrilled to be included as an Internet Retailer Top 50 Site."
The fourth-annual Internet Retailer Best of the Web Top 50 Retailing Sites run the gamut of retailers and sizes, from Target and Amazon.com to Guild.com and Fortunoff. "Internet Retailer's Best of the Web recognizes 50 sites in seven categories that are adopting innovative approaches to online retailing," said Kurt T. Peters, editor of Internet Retailer. "They are not exclusively the biggest, busiest or most profitable sites; they're sites that succeed in a highly competitive market with strategies and innovative techniques other retailers can learn from."
The editors base their selections of the Top 50 on consultations with members of Internet Retailer's Editorial Board of Advisers and with industry consultants and analysts, nominations from readers and the editors' own experience in dealing with sites, both professionally and personally, throughout the year.
