Bare-faced cheek.

SIR - The recent Welsh press publicity featuring the Welsh charity fund-raising 2005 calendar Cnawd, portraying well-known Welsh personalities in the nude, brought a wry smile to myself.

There was Plaid Cymru AM for Carmarthen East Rhodri Glyn Thomas showing himself bare-cheeked. I thought to myself 'How appropriate'.

The other week a party of visitors turned up at the Cardiff Assembly HQ from Carmarthen East and were met by the said AM.

When a lady from Brechfa asked Mr Thomas about the hundreds of wind turbines proposed for Brechfa under the Assembly Policy TAN8 the said AM said, 'It's either the wind turbines or two new nuclear power stations, one between Llanelli and Swansea and one in Pembroke' adding quickly 'Now you wouldn't want that would you?'.

This was a bare-faced political lie for which Rhodri Glyn Thomas, a former preacher, should be absolutely ashamed. No amount of useless inefficient wind turbines will ever replace two nuclear power stations. There are no plans to build nuclear power stations in West Wales unless they are secret plans of the Plaid Cymru party.

Bare-faced Mr Thomas, you take the biscuit! Apologise now for your scaremongering.
