Bard hangover; Record View.

THE Bard would be birling in his grave if such a blasphemy had been uttered in his day.

Who would have thought a Taiwanese single malt would be voted tops in a blind tasting by experts.

It might not have happened in Burns' lifetime but details emerged yesterday as many prepared to mark Burns Night.

There was one bright spot to emerge from the rather depressing story. The distillery used to produce the little-known Kavalan brand was built with copper stills by a firm from Dufftown.

And that might just give us a glimmer of hope and suggest we consider selling our expertise around the globe as we try to secure some manufacturing work instead of drowning our sorrows in this dismal economic climate.
