Barclays Plc (LSE: BARC) has said that it has increased its dividend.

The bank apparently made the move to appease investors. The bank's earnings had been hit by weak performance at its investment bank and a charge related to US tax overhaul.

Chief executive, Jes Staley, pledged on Thursday to more than double dividends in a move to appease disgruntled shareholders. The firm reported a GBP1.9bn net loss for 2017. It had reported a profit of GBP1.6bn the previous year.
