Barbie's Queen B.

Byline: Susan Lee

THREE cheers for Barbie who has delivered an unladylike slap in the face to those upstarts, the Bratz dolls.

In what is becoming a major storm in a toy box, a US federal court has banned parent company MGA Entertainment from making the Barbie rival, issuing the order after Barbie-maker Mattel won a landmark copy right in fringement case. That means the offending dolls may have to be cleared from shelves.

Go, Barbie girl!

Let's face it, have any of us ever cared for Bratz? They're a bunch of brash little minxes who dress like jail-bait, are ridiculously over-made up and are, frankly, too sexy for their own good.

I know Barbie has an over-proportioned chest and dodgy hair extensions, but at least she bears a passing resemblance to a real girl. She also strikes me as a reasonably wholesome lass. I mean, all those years spent with Ken and not a whiff of scandal.

Now she's seen off her younger rivals to retain her rightful crown as Queen Bee of the toy shop. Quite right, too.
