Baptism of fire for duo; Cue Sports.

TEESSIDE'S two representatives on the EASB National Premier Junior Snooker Tour were given a tough baptism of fire in the opening event of the season in Leeds.

After qualifying for the tour via the regional junior tour events last season, Liam Clark, 16, and Keith Kinnersley, 17, both failed to win matches at the first of five tournaments held around the country.

Clark, the reigning English Under-16 champion, was defeated 3-0 by Jordan Winbourne (Southampton), 3-0 by Michael Rogers (Taunton) and 3-1 by Joe Roberts (Featherstone).

Kinnersley lost out 3-1 to Martin Ball (Durham), 3-0 to Elliot Slessor (Gateshead) and 3-2 to Lewis Frampton (Surrey).

The event was won by Sheffield''s Joel Walker, who beat Oliver Lines (Leeds) 4-0 in the final.
