Banks the enemy.

This refers to 'Bankers fear loy-offs (GDN, June 3). I have little sympathy for them. They are getting what they deserve for playing havoc with world economics and bringing misery to millions.

In the words of Abraham Lincoln which I also concur: "The money-powers prey upon nations in times of peace and conspire against them in times of adversity.

"The banking powers are more despotic than a monarch, more insolent than autocrat, more selfish than bureaucrat.

"They denounce as public enemies all who question their methods or throw light upon their crimes.

"I have two great enemies, the Southern Army in front of me and the bankers in the rear. Of the two, the one at my rear is my greatest foe."
