Bankruptcy Department holds talks with investors regarding sale of Kristall polysilicon plant without keeping specialization.

A foreign company expressed interest in acquisition of the Kristall polysilicon plant in Tash-Kumyr, Bankruptcy Department Director Bolsunbek Kazakov told Tazabek.

The Department is working with this company, the talks are in progress, he said.

Creditors of OJSC Kristall decided to auction off the plant without retention of its specialization - production of polycrystalline silicon. 100% stake in the plant will be auctioned off at the starting price of $4.6 million. The auction scheduled for April 10 was announced as failed as no bids were submitted.

"We also invite Chinese investors to build a mineral fertilizer plant there. Construction of a new plant will require investments of $300 million. If Kyrgyzstan does not produces silicon, we need to achieve supply of our farmers with fertilizers at least. 60% of country population work in agrarian sector. If we want to develop the sector, we should have fertilizers at low prices," Kazakov stated.
