Bankers Trust Selects Object Design's ObjectStore for Global Risk Management Trading System

BURLINGTON, Mass., Nov. 25 /PR Newswire/ -- Object Design, Inc. (Nasdaq: ODIS) today announced that Bankers Trust Company has selected ObjectStore, the industry's market-leading object database, as a key component of its new, international risk management trading system.

Bankers Trust, a leading international investment bank, will use the Object Design(R) ObjectStore(R) database to store and manage sophisticated financial data -- data that can be stored more efficiently in an object database than traditional relational databases. The system will incorporate live feeds from 20 different trading systems across offices in London, New York and Tokyo, and give traders accurate, up-to-the-minute information.

The first phase of the risk management system, delivered in August, supports up to 25 traders at the bank's offices in London and New York. The second phase, scheduled for delivery by year's end, will support another 25 traders at the New York office.

"Our priority in the selection process was for a high performance database that would provide flexibility and fast implementation. Having considered both relational and other object database suppliers, we selected Object Design's ObjectStore due to its ability to save considerable system development time," said Colin Savery, vice president at Bankers Trust. "Object Design has a proven track record in the financial sector, a global support infrastructure and the necessary high quality expertise to help ensure the success of our new risk management trading system," Savery continued.

"Bankers Trust's investment in ObjectStore is further evidence of the rapid uptake and acceptance of object technology across the financial sector," said Melissa Webster, vice president of marketing at Object Design. "This agreement with Bankers Trust shows that ObjectStore is the preferred object database for financial organizations planning to develop fast, highly functional and reliable risk management trading systems."
