Bangladesh has accomplished the launch of an exclusive skills training scheme this week for the apparel sector of the country.

As part of the new move, existing apparel industry workers as well as the prospective ones will be given training on skill development.

The newly initiated scheme, dubbed as the Skill for Employment Investment Program (SEIP), is intended for preparing 43,800 people over a three-year period.

After the completion of the programme, the successful participants will be absorbed by a readymade garment factory.

Bangladesh has launched the SEIP in order to build a further skilled workforce for its apparel industry.

The dedicated program will provide lessons on skill development to the new entrants as well as to the existing workers of the country's apparel sector.

Bangladesh has secured assistance from the Manila-headquartered Asian Development Bank (ADB) and Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) to carry out the project.
