Banger recalls the Daddy of wrestling.

TONY 'Banger' Walsh was used to being battered by grannies' brollies on his way into the wrestling ring as the bad boy went to grapple with Big Daddy.

It was all part of the show for old dears in the audience to land a blow on the villain taking on the good guy in the heyday of televised Saturday afternoon wrestling.

But Kenilworthbased Banger will be hoping for a better reception when he takes his seat at Eathorpe VIllage Hall tomorrow for a play based on the life of Shirley Crabtree - aka Big Daddy.

at Eathorpe VIllage Hall tomorrow for a play based on the life of Shirley Crabtree - aka Big Banger grappled the 23-stone man mountain more than 700 times and grudgingly played the fall guy on most of them, but he won't be thrown out the ring this time. He's a VIP guest and will be sitting in the stalls. The 65-year-old former Coventry nightclub bouncer said:"I can't wait to see it. This was a massive part of my life."

Big Daddy vs Giant Haystacks, starts at 8pm and is staged by The Foundry Group and Komedia Entertainment.
