Banana Republic back downtown.

Brookfield Properties Corporation today announced that Banana Republic has signed a lease for 8,000 square feet of prime street-level retail space in the Winter Garden at Three World Financial Center.

The store is expected to open in February 2004.

Fronting on the Winter Garden, one of New York's most beloved public spaces, Banana Republic will be easily accessible to thousands of office workers, tourists and nearby residents.

"Banana Republic, with its dynamic merchandise mix and appeal among urban professionals, will be another great draw for the Winter Garden," said Dennis Friedrich, President and Chief Operating Officer of Brookfield's U.S. Commercial Operations.

"We are delighted to welcome Banana Republic back to Lower Manhattan."

Banana Republic is the latest among a number of former World Trade Center retailers (Borders, Ann Taylor Loft, Nine West) that have recently found new downtown homes.

Banana Republic was represented by Steve Asch of Newmark/New Spectrum. Brookrield Properties was represented by Ed Hogan of Brookfield.
