Ban all cyclists from our pavements.

Cycling should be banned on Northumberland Street and on all other city centre street pavements and on no account should any cycle lane(s) be provided on pavement areas, for the safety of pedestrians.

Many times I have nearly been knocked down by morons riding mountain bikes at speeds of up to 30mph on the pavements of the Tyne Bridge and on the pathway near Gateshead Civic Centre. It is just a matter of time before someone is killed. Cyclists should be compelled by law to be registered and pay road tax and insurance. Much money has been spent on providing cycle lanes, pictured, which are rarely used and cyclists should be made to contribute towards their cost. For their own safety, children under 16 should only be allowed to cycle on the cycle ways.
