Balanced diet is the key.
It is good to know that despite the growing menace among kids, most children in the UAE are aware of the advantages of eating healthy and staying fit, (KT April 30). In today's digital age, eating junk food has become a common practice for most people. Children's dietary habits have changed drastically and it has been affecting their health gravely. Childhood obesity, diabetes, heart ailments and several other diseases have made their foray into children's lives. Early childhood is a crucial time to establish healthy eating habits. Parents should make an effort to cultivate healthy eating habits and instill the importance of staying active.
Including whole grains, fruits, vegetables and low-fat dairy products in meals is necessary. Also, children should be made aware to the fact that healthy outside starts from a healthy inside. Hence eating a balanced diet, following an exercise regimen, having sound sleep and staying positive are the important ingredients for their appropriate growth and well-being.
