Social business initiatives aim to enable Bahraini youngsters to divert their ideas and creativity into small projects that can grow and create new jobs, the kingdom's Deputy Premier said at the opening of Social Business Week 2012.

This will, in turn, contribute to more income and a better standard of living for all, he said as je addressed the gathering at Beit Al Tijjar.

Professor Muhammad Yunus, winner of the 2006 Nobel Peace Prize and founder of Grameen Bank and Yunus Centre at the UN, Deputy Premiers, ministers and chairmen of institutions and banks attended.

The Social Development Ministry event is organised by Family Bank in co-operation with Grameen Creativity Lab.

Shaikh Mohammed said Bahraini youths appreciate unique experience in social and economic work to achieve their aspirations and reinforce productive business. He said the government and state agencies have exerted efforts for the youths to benefit from international experiences by providing them with education, training and financing.

He said the partnership between Yunus Centre, Grameen Creativity Lab and Family Bank was a perfect model of supporting low-income people.

The event will feature seminars and workshops where participants will focus on social and economic initiatives, share experiences and review opportunities for youths. - TradeArabia News Service
