Bahrain will open two substations this year in Al Hamal and Ras Zuwaid.

The Al Hamal station will have 220 kilovolt (kV) capacity, while the latter will have 66kV capacity.

These announcements were made on the eve of the inauguration of three substations in the kingdom.

A 66kV plant was inaugurated in Hajjiyat; a 220kV substation was launched as part of the Bahrain International Airport station; and a 66kV electrical substation was made operational as part of the airport's western plant.

The kingdom's Electricity and Water Affairs Minister, Dr Abdulhussain bin Ali Mirza, inaugurated the first plant, BNA reported.
