Bahrain stresses role of artificial lift techniques.
The inauguration was opened with an introduction and welcome speech from the MEALF 2011 Technical Committee chairman Abdullah Al Somali.
In his keynote address, Dr Ali Mirza cited the mounting importance of the role played by artificial lift technologies in oil production, locally and globally.
He also stressed the rise in the use of these technologies particularly in Bahrain and its increasing contribution to the Kingdom's total oil output.
The MEALF 2011, which will be attended by over 150 delegates and 40 representative countries from close to 20 countries worldwide. Yesterday, pre-forum training workshops were conducted by training and development company Network of Excellence in Training (NeXT).
The technical sessions, which were scheduled to commence yesterday, will be chaired by technical experts from some of the region's largest oil companies.
Over 20 oil and gas specialists will deliver presentations on heavy oil, surveillance and optimisation as well as alternative deployments for electrical submersible pumps in oil fields.

As the only one of its kind in the region, it serves as a platform to attract international companies to invest in exploration and production projects, and to educate people on the importance of artificial lift systems and applications to the industry," said Nasser Diab, general manager of event organiser Omanexpo.
The three-day exhibition and conference is held every two years and highlights emerging technologies in oil recovery methods through training workshops, a conference and an exhibition of oil-related equipment and technology. It is supported by Kuwait Oil, Zenith Oilfield, Schlumberger as platinum sponsors; Al Khorayef Petroleum and Weatherford Oil Tool Middle East as gold sponsors; and Kudu Industries and Lufkin as silver sponsors.
