Bahrain bans painkiller.

Bahrain has banned the use of the painkilling drug, Distalgesic, health officials have declared.

The move follows the US Food and Drug Administration barring the drug after revelations it had a negative effect on blood vessels and could lead to heart disease and disease of the circulatory system.

A Health Ministry spokesman said all of Bahrain's pharmacies had been asked to immediately withdraw the drug from its shelves.

"We have also, with immediate effect, stopped stocking the drug at all health centres and hospitals and have banned its imports," he said.- TradeArabia News Service
