In Bahrain, the Customs Convention on the ATA Carnet for the Temporary Admission of Goods (ATA Convention) has been introduced.

During the ceremony, Customs Chief Shaikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al-Khalifa and Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry Second Deputy Chairman Jawad Abdulwahab Al-Hawaj patronised the set up in the existence of BCCI Chief Executive Officer Nabeel Abdulrahman Al-Mahmoud.

Shaikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al-Khalifa, at Bahrain International Airport, in a press conference, stated ATA Carnet is an international customs document that certifies the tax-free and duty-free tentative export and import of goods for up to one year.

He pointed out that the new streamlined system would have a positive impact on the sectors of tourism, transport, entertainment and exhibition industries and trade markets. "The ATA Carnet will help exporters reduce the costs by exempting them from the customs fees and value added taxes (VAT)" he said.
