Badr al Samaa launches new MRI facility in Ruwi.

Paving the way towards addressing the ever-evolving private healthcare environment in Oman, Badr al Samaa Group of Hospitals has installed the first-of-its-kind stress free in-bore MRI technology at its hospital in Ruwi.

In-bore MRI allows patients to watch soothing videos while undergoing the MRI. It distracts the patient from the claustrophobic experience associated with an MRI.

"This will be a comfortable experience for patients needing an MRI," said Dr Nevin Majeed, radiologist. The in-bore MRI addresses the three main concerns patients have while undergoing an MRI - a narrow bore or tunnel, closed feeling and loud noises generated by the scanner. "Our MRI has a 70cm wide bore with one foot space between the patient and scanner, in-bore video experience and advanced noise reduction technology. Patient can listen to soothing music through headphones. Scanning times are also much reduced with most MRIs comple-ted in 10-20 minutes."

The stress free imaging facility with the Philips Ingenia 1.5T in-bore MRI reflects the vision of Badr al Samaa to deliver the highest level of image quality in the most comfortable environment at an affordable cost, a press release said.

A joint statement by Abdul Latheef, P A Mohammed and V T Vinod, directors of Badr al Samaa Group of Hospitals, said, "We are all working with focused dedication and excited anticipation as we have installed the first in-bore ambience experience MRI in Oman. This new machine incorporates latest technological innovations at the international level."
